Support Sleep!

Time to get going now that the single is out. Check the Support the Singles page, find your local radio station, call/text/e-mail them, and ask them to play Sleep When I'm Dead. If they don't have it, ask them to get it, and suggest they play The Only One, NY Trip, Freakshow, and All Kinds Of Stuff until they do. : )
Please post or e-mail me with your results. And let me know which stations are playing it. Thanks!

  3. The radio stations in Greenville, SC suck. I wouldn't even know who to call.

    Christian Radio
    Country
    Rap
And one station that likes to play "Daughtry" all day long.

  4. True.
True sacrifice all in the name of love.
"Love you Robert!" "Love you guys!"
    *Pulls string*
    Ahh... the string broke.
    Mesa think of somethin'

  5. CPG2: I would call ALL of those and DEMAND some CURE!

To the Christian radio, explain: "The Only One is about how Jesus, son of our lord and savior, gives me a blow job"

To the country station, explain: "Keith Uddin mixed these songs and his name sounds like Keith Urban."

To the rap station explain: "Freakshow is about some crunk freak-ass bitch-ho who shakes her bootay all up my homeboy Bobby's face"

To the Daughtry station, explain: "Robert Smith is got his start on Pop Idol, the British counterpart to American Idol."

  6. I must be losing my mind, but Cat's suggestions seem perfectly logical to me. I think they just might work. Call! : )

  7. Biggy Pop Idol?
A mix between 2 famous star?

  8. Cat, hahahahah! I'm about to fall out of my chair. :)

  9. Oh the things I do for The Cure. You dare me? LOL!

Good lord......first you all want me to ask the clerk at Earshot if he thinks it's pony or bunny, now you want me to call Christian radio and tell them "Sleep When I'm Dead" is a song about Jesus and a blow job.

Haha! I'm going to be run out of this town...they are going to send me to a loony bin.

I'm checking out the College radio sites right now though.....I'll let you know what I come up with.

  10. actually, in the only one Jesus gives ROBERT a blow job, not caterpillargirl2. so you need to amend your explanation for the only one, cpg2.

    i'm such a cunning linguist

  11. cpg: are you in greenville? my mom lives in columbia. SC is such a progressive state. :-P

    ReplyDelete
  12. You're right......I miss quoted "The Only One" blow job thing.

    Sorry 'bout that.

    Yes, I'm in Greenville.

The Carolinas in general are progressive. The suits are in charge.

I'm from San Diego - where people are a little freakier and you can actually buy liquor at the grocery store from a transvestite clerk, with your club card on a Sunday morning.

    ReplyDelete
  13. LOL CPG! I was actually joking about SC being progressive... but NC is much moreso, I think, esp now that HELLms is dead. Neither Carolina is a hotbed of radicalism, of course, but NC is at least ahead of fucking GEORGIA. Ick.

But yeah, Cali will always be uber-liberal, and for that I boisterously applaud them. Having lived in the Deep Scary South my entire life, I'm kinda ready to live in Libertine-land...

And it wasn't you who misquoted the Jesus/fellatio thing, it was MOI.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Awww, it's adorable that you Americans view yourselves as progressive. :^P

    ReplyDelete
  15. well, some of us are, eh? now go eat your bacon! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  16. The Carolinas are progressive as far as:

Green spaces, mostly clean air and water

    Affordable land

    Public Transportation

    Reasonable cost of living

Some semblance of community and public places to interact

    But......there is NO music scene.

  17. that sounds very cool, cpg. sounds better than georgia, anyway! but then, alabama is better than georgia...

no, on second thought, it's not...

actually i love the south despite it's blinding blemishes...

speaking of progressive politics, i must go vote in the georgia primary elections! got some good progressives running... not the least of which is Civil Rights hero John Lewis! he's my rep.

    BYE!

  18. I sent a request for "Sleep When I'm Dead" to The Planet 93.3

Their Logo says "New Rock" How is the song their currently playing by Led Zepplin new rock?

But in the last hour they played NIN, Foo Fighters, some band that sucked that I've never heard of, Motley Crue, Linkin' Park, Seether....... Am I wasting my time?

We'll see what happens. I'll bug the shit out of them!!!!

Somehow concentrating my efforts with The Planet seems like it would be more rewarding than calling the Christian/Country/Crunk stations.

  19. holy crap - clockwise, are you in GA? crazy. I grew up in Duluth, the little town blessed by the presence of the Gwinnett Civic Center, where the Cure played when they played "Atlanta."

    small world.

    ReplyDelete
  20. if anybody's bored today, go here.

but please, don't be on any drugs.

    ReplyDelete
  21. david, yes, i live in the ATL, for the past 15 or so years. before that i was in texas and north carolina. dirty south/southwest my whole life! but really, there's lots to like about it here... i especially think north carolina is a great state, southern-wise. not as fond of texas, sorry to say, but that IS where i learned to love the cure, and dallas/houston/austin DOES love them some cure, so i guess i'm indebted to them in a way. :-)

were you at the duluth show?

    ReplyDelete
  22. I love the carolinas, nc is growing, especially places like raliegh and fayetteville.

I'm gonna request 106.5 I think, they'd be more likely to play The Cure I think, but what the hell do I know, I haven't listened to the radio besides NPR for years...

    ReplyDelete
  23. 106.5 will play it! I'm signed up with their website too.....for the freeloaders. I'll help you get it played in Charlotte!

I lived in Charlotte for 5 years and moved from there to Greenville, SC in Feb of this year.

  26. craig, feel free to delete my profanity-laden rant... i'll just contact Universal directly and give 'em a piece of my mind... sans the vulgar hyperbole, of course.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Just remember that Universal has allowed me to keep the Sleep video on Youtube. They had all of the others removed. Let's keep them as Friends of COF. : )

    ReplyDelete
  28. hell yeah caterpillar! bewteen me and you we will turn 106.5 into CureFM!

    ReplyDelete
  29. please delete your profanity laced diatribes, dear cat. i happen to like the video.

    ReplyDelete
  30. i misspelled between :(

    ReplyDelete
  31. craig, i don't get WHY they silenced the fan vids, though! i don't get it at all! they didn't do that with FS and TOO did they? and if they did, WHY THE FUCK! makes NO sense...

    i hate corporations, sorry.

i won't delete my tirades but craig can since it's his site.

    ReplyDelete
  32. craig, i hope you don't mind me posting links to all this random stuff today. i'm bored...

    ReplyDelete
  33. cat I am with you on this Universal rant. But without corporations we wouldn't have coca-cola, or hane's undershirts. then again we wouldn't have 'crock' shoes and 'abstinence only' booty shorts at wal-mart...you're right fuck corporations!

I too am from San Diego and live in Raleigh. NC now. And The Caterpillar is my favorite Cure song...

    :)

  35. Holy guacamole, Monkeybutt... that dude does NOT like getting ripped off over his sausages. I knew just from listening that he was from North Texas, and I was right.

I grew up in Houston. I sound like a TV anchor. Well, except for saying "y'all" and "fixinta."

  36. 106.1 The Corner in c'ville, VA is awesome about the singles. they seem as payched as i do. i've heard all 3 more than once. but i've heard the only one the most.

  39. I looked at the list once again & I was surprised to see Philly has another alternative station YROCKS on WXPN. I don’t usually listen to WXPN so I never knew. The alternative music is mostly broadcasted on their HD station but on a few nights during the week they do broadcast on their regular WXPN FM radio station. And they have been playing all of the new Cure singles quite often!!! YEAH!!! Is Philly actually that cool to have two alternative stations now??? I’m shocked! LOL!

And I've gotten the other alternative station 104.5 to play SWID a few times so far! So keep calling, texting, e-mailing or whatever to get it played at a radio station near you!!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. anah - I actually really like OB. Whe I was 21 I was tryng to rent a little beach bungalow there but I couldn't afford the rent.....at the time it was $600. Jeez, that would be a bargain now. I'm sure those bungalows rent for thousands now.

I can't get The Planet in Greenville to play SWID or Freakshow. I know they won't play The Only One........That station is just full of heabanging music. I'm serious!

Should I call the Top 40 station to see if they'll play "The Only One?" (shuddering) It might be played next to Jordin Sparks. But at least it would get aired, right?

I'm still emailing The Planet though, maybe one of the dj's will play it......I've emailed 3 dj's so far.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Right now SWID is being played on WZEW in the new music challenge...taking on a new buddy guy song. should be interesting to see if the new cure can take win it today. Be nice to get to hear it again tomorrow...anybody in the next 15 mins or so from the time of my post can call the ZEW and vote...251-433-9236

I just spoke with the dj and told her probably have some folks around the world streaming for the contest today. Go check out my local adult alternative and vote for the cure today, the contest is about 12:25 pm cst. 251-433-9236

  46. sorry, make that www.92zew.net

  47. So the DJ has postponed The Cure/Conor Oberst showdown until tomorrow due to the station's having transmission problems today. But she played SWID at my request today anyway, too bad halfway through the song I lost the transmission. :( So tomorrow please stream the station and support SWID, my fave of the singles so far!

  48. So I emailed this dj named "Dino" at the top 40 station. Here's what I said.....

"So, I'm new to Greenville and I'm a bit baffled by the radio stations here. I'm trying to help one of the best bands in the world get their new singles aired, but my choices of radio stations are headbanging, top 40, christian, country, and adult contemporary. Is there not an Alternative Rock station? Greenville really needs one! It's very strange that Buckcherry and Coldplay are being played next to Justin Timberlake, Usher, and Jordin Sparks. I'm totally baffled.

Can you please play "The Only One" by The Cure? It came out on May 13th of this year.......I think it's a great little tune and I would love to hear it get aired in Greenville.

If you don't have it, I can walk my copy of the single down there for you."

    Here's his response:

"I love me some Cure...Robert Smith is my biological father.

Ok, that's a lie, but I'm a fan of "the Only One"...it's not their best stuff, but it's cool."

And he still didn't play it! Bastard!

How should I respond......this is the furthest I've gotten in this music deprived town.
