  1. Hi Craig,

You should add that it got 4 out of 5 stars.
It is in the second image...

    Cheers

  4. My guess is that the reviewer felt that UTS was dreary compared to the other upbeat songs on the album, and as an opener it is not very punchy.

Not only do we expect this of a Cure album, but don't forget that most of us associate UTS with the recent shows, which were far from dreary.

Maybe "atmospheric" would have been a better word.

  5. rolling stone said this too. what the fuck is a "rag doll thump"? or "bounce"? am i missing something here?

  6. dunno, it could be something similar to a rag dog book perhaps ?

  7. "dreary: feeling, displaying, or reflecting listlessness or discouragement"
Say what? Can't see where that came from but I haven't listened to the album, yet.
Still, I hope that word doesn't come to mind when I finally have the little Precious in my hands...

We're going way of topic here, sorry.
But I'm antecipating the huge success of the album considering the reviews it's been getting.

  16. A large woman wearing a sleeveless sundress, walked into a bar in Dublin.

She raised her right arm, revealing a huge hairy armpit as she pointed to all the people sitting at the bar and asked, "What man here will buy a lady a drink?"

The bar went silent as the patrons tried to ignore her.

But down at the end of the bar, an owl-eyed drunk slammed his hand down on the counter and bellowed,"Give the ballerina a drink!"

The bartender poured a drink and the woman gulped it down.

She turned to the patrons, and again pointed around at all of them, revealing the same hairy armpit, and asked,"What man here will buy a lady a drink?"

Once again, the same little drunk slapped his money down on the bar and said,"Give the ballerina another drink"

The bartender approached the little drunk and said,"Tell me Paddy, it's your business if you want to buy the lady a drink, but why do you keep calling her a ballerina?"

The drunk replied,"Any woman who can lift her leg that high has got to be a ballerina."

  17. I'm soooo tempted to listen to the studio version of the album, but I must wait for next Tuesday. I need to sustain some sort of suspense...

  18. e a saga continua ...

  19. craig, i think the reviewer just meant that it's not as upbeat as the rest of the album... in the context dreary makes some sense, but i agree it's maybe not the best diction...

  20. JAPAN BANKING CRISIS

    ...News just in:

While the Tsunami Bank's employees are waving their bonuses goodbye, it's also reported that the Sudoku Bank's number is also up. Strangely the Manga Bank's manager was rather animated when discussing the financial crisis; the Haiku Bank's manager was conversely short on words.

It's not all doom and gloom though. Today the Shinto Bank has again reported high prophets. Meanwhile, the Ninja Bank has taken a hit but they remain in the black.

  21. hynreck, you can't hide in shadows. the light reflects off your monocle.

  22. Swifty - you forgot to mention that the Origami Bank just folded, the Karaoke Bank is going for a song and there is something fishy going on at the Sushi Bank and it is expected that their investors will get a raw deal!!!

  23. hynreck speaks to us from the dead! tell us, oh monocled one, how is the after life?

  24. I posted those details earlier, Elise...maybe when you were holidaying. As I recall, the Sumo Bank had gone belly up, and also, fortunes at the Kamikaze Bank had taken a nose-dive.

  25. Swifty - sorry, I must have missed your earlier report! :)
